Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina Pilot Program awarded to Instant Care, Inc.

BCBS of SC has commissioned a three year Pilot program utilizing Instant Care’s Tele-Medical & Emergency Response systems. The Pilot will target members who frequent the emergency room displaying non-emergent conditions, as well as members at high risk for falls, newly released patients at risk for hospital readmission, and first time mothers. The implementation of this program will reduce non-emergent Emergency Room visits, reduce unnecessary ambulance and other emergency responder calls, reduce hospital readmissions, and assist first time mothers with questions and advice for their newborn.

BCBS of SC became keenly aware of Instant Care’s highly successful SC DHHS Pilot program results in which ninety five percent (95%) of the Pilot population utilized the Instant Care system. Close to forty percent (40%) of all calls resulted in a Personal Tele-triage consultation with a Registered Nurse. Eighty percent (80%) of calls resulted in a non-emergency outcome. Due to the success of the previous Pilot program the SC DHHS will establish a new program in 2014 utilizing Instant Care systems to target the 24/7 medical needs of first time mothers and their children.
